El Zócalo
Leading up to American Mariachi at the Alley, the El Zócalo Team, was busy at work with making sure all audiences, especially Houston's Hispanic community, had the opportunity to come see the incredible show! Through the Alley's Language Justice Program, opportunities to connect with the local Houston Hispanic community were created by including specialized campaigns with Spanish language media, creating a welcoming atmosphere through bilingual signage throughout the buildings and Spanish-speaking Guest Services and Front of House staff, and providing Spanish language materials and events such as simultaneous translations for select performances, programs, resource guides, and talkbacks. Simply put, “Language Justice” is a powerful way to describe individuals’ fundamental right to have their voices heard.
